And THEN I got to being my darlings to one of my favorite places on Earth!!
Hot chocolate, Mont Blanc and macaroons all around.
Oh, everyone's delight and excitement was off the charts. My heart was overflowing with gratitude to get to sit there with them and share this wonderful spot.
When I explained that we would probably only do this once while we were here, they quickly understood but were also both quick to pile on that maybe one day THEY would bring THEIR kids back to Paris and to Angelina, too. They both said it emphatically and almost simultaneously.
There was also lots of discussion about how they make the hot chocolate, how much chocolate they must go through in a day, how we should probably open our own chocolate-serving tea room in Austin, how on a mere 115 years ours would be open for as long as this one, and much other banter.
We lingered a bit and visited the gift shop before leaving. The enthusiasm didn't wane as the kids cautiously requested and with great appreciation helped me select some chocolate to bring home. The conversation that followed about the how and when we would enjoy said chocolate was worth the purchase price alone!
Definitely a highlight for me!!
