Our first splash pad visit of the year for Jackson and of her life for Molly was a total success.
This afternoon we headed over after a little 'quiet time' (since Jackson hasn't napped since January, much to his own and my exhaustion). After we were all slathered sunscreen and you two were donning your swim diapers, we headed into the fountains. Only one other family was there when we arrived but they were heading home so we had the whole place to ourselves over at Bailey Park.
Jackson, you were so elated, you just ran and ran, yelling with delight and giving those full guttural laughs each time you'd get soaked.
Molly, you didn't know what to think of it at first, so you just kinda sat nearby and watched as brother went bonkers. You tested it out and made it to the nearest fountains where I sat with you and we used our little bubble wand and I blew some bubbles that floated around Bubba and through the spraying water; it was really quite a pretty scene. But you still seemed a bit suspicious of the whole set up so after a few minutes, you crawled back to a dry spot.
Entranced with having the time of his life, sweet Bubba decided to try to entice Bitsy into the water. He used his highest-pitched Mama-mimicking soft voice, making liberal use of the word "swee-dee." Eventually, Bubba ran out of gas and came to sit in my lap silently and blank-faced. But as our afternoon at the splash pad came to the close, Bitsy was finally ready to immerse herself in this crazy place. So just as bubba and momma had changed into our dry clothes and cover-up, we found ourselves walking circles though the water again as she laughed and waved her hands.
Such a delight for us all.
Looking forward to more splash pad visits ahead.
