Uncle Matt

Dear Bitsy,

You are in the throes of separation anxiety. You barely let me out of your sight and when you do, you make your way back to me as quickly as possible.

Tonight at your brother's family birthday party, you had a really rough go at it. You have an ear infection and are teething, which makes for about combo. Plus, you were just generally tired and ready for some peace and quiet so you could sleep.

As your Uncle Matt was leaving he wanted to see if he could hold you for a second. So far tonight, you had cried through anyone else trying to hold you. Honestly, you're really pretty fussy even with me. However, you were as content as could be while your Uncle Matt held you.

You had been sleeping for little while in my lap and when he picked you up. You woke up for a bit and looked around. Wide-eyed, you were able to take in that I was not holding you anymore and Uncle Matt had you. As he held you, you stared at him for a minute, then flopped your head on his chest where you snuggled in for a good 20 minutes. You even grabbed his finger and held on tight. When others came to talk and look at you you lifted your head turned it the other way, snuggled into him a little more and finally went to sleep.

Everyone was totally smitten with how precious it was, not the least of which was Matt. And although you were the sack of sugar on his chest, he was the one melted to a puddle by your sweetness. He beamed with pride.
